Tasting Notes

“I have always wanted to make a Pinot Noir Rosé in this style from the Pemberley vineyard.  David Rado and I came together in 2009 to craft wines exactly as we have always wanted to under the Pemberley label.  What we aim to achieve are wines that allow the Pemberley vineyard to come to life and stamp its character on the wines, and I think that is what we have achieved”

Vintage Conditions

In 2015 we experienced a normal Pemberton spring, followed by a warm, dry summer. Ideal ripening conditions with even day temperatures produced healthy canopies carrying medium yields in the vineyard. This vintage provided intense fruit showing wild strawberry flavours.

Vineyard

Planted in 1995 in the Eastbrook area of Pemberton, the vineyard was planted on deep karri loams. The vines are cane pruned and grown using minimal chemicals. The fruit is hand harvested and moved only a short distance to the winery.

Winemaking Notes

This wine is 100% barrel fermented in French oak with natural yeast allowed to initiate fermentation. I leave the wine for an extended period on lees to gain texture and a hint of complexity. Short skin contact has produced a bright salmon pink colour.
